Construction of Maritime English Course from the Perspective of ESP

本文以Hutchinson&Waters的课程建构流程为基础,从需求分析、大纲设计、教材设计、教学法和评估等方面探讨了海事英语作为专门用途英语的课程建构,发现海事英语课程应满足学生在海事领域的综合英语技能需求,大纲内容应包含以微技能为基础的综合英语技能和基础专业知识,教材的理念、体例和材料选择应将英语技能培养与专业基础知识相结合,其教学法应融通各法之长,本文亦提出了评估策略。

On the basis of curriculum construction process set by Hutchinson Waters and from the perspective of ESP,this paper,explores the construction of Maritime English Course with regard to needs analysis,syllabus design,materials design,methodology and evaluation. It is found that this course should meet students＇ needs for comprehensive English techniques in terms of marine arena. The syllabus ought to contain comprehensive English skills based on micro techniques and basic professional knowledge. Ideas,styles and materials selection concerning the textbooks should combine English skills and basic professional knowledge. Illustrating a methodology which draws on merits of other approaches,this paper generates the evaluation strategy.
