This paper introduces a test method in the measurement of kinematic viscosity of transparent and opaque liquid petroleum products by automated Houillon viscometer. This method requires less volume of sample and solvent,and has better advantages in health and environmental protection than other methods. The test is fast and accurate. Especially for used oils,the cleaning of viscosity tubes is relatively easy. So this method has wide application prospect.
