俄国形式主义的早期诗学观力求建构一种科学的、强调文本独立自主性的诗学理论。巴赫金认为,俄国形式主义早期的诗学诉求将文本的形式因素前置,强调文本的合法性只能依据自身的内在标准加以说明,这样一种科学诗学的建构无疑遮蔽了其真正的审美性。

The early poetics of Russian formalism sought to construct a scientific theory that puts emphasis on the autonomy of the text.Bakhtin observes that by underscoring formal factors of the text,the early demands of the poetics of Russian formalism accentuate that the legitimacy of the text can only be explained by its own internal standards.He further argues that the construction of such a'scientific'poetics undoubtedly obscures the true aesthetic features of literature.
