论意象翻译的误区

On the Fallacies in Translating Images

意象是文学作品的重要特质之一,它对于实现文学作品特有的审美价值十分重要。意象翻译的好坏直接关系到文学作品翻译的质量和效果,但目前意象翻译中存在两种误区:一是以直白的述说或主观的阐释取代原文的意象;二是对文化差异不加审视,以另一意象取代原文中的意象。因为意象往往是民族文化的积淀,具有独特的民族性、丰富的文化性、意义的含蓄性、表达的生动性等特点,所以意象翻译的原则最好是以恰当保留原有意象为原则,有时为交流需要也可添加解释性词语或加注说明。

Images,an element of the essential properties of literary works,are important for the realization of literary aesthetic value.The translation of images is directly related to the quality and effect of literary translation.At present,there are two types of fallacies in translating images：1.substituting plain statements or subjective paraphrases for original images;2.substituting other images for original images without a full consideration of their cultural difference.Images,featuring their unique nationality,rich cultural connotations,implicit meanings and vivid expressions,are always the accumulation of national culture,so the best principle of translating images is to preserve them and some notes and explanations can be employed,if necessary.
