翻译目的论视域下西藏景点名称英译规范化研究

Standardization of Translating Names of Tibetan Scenic Spots from the Skopos Perspective

景点名称翻译是旅游资料翻译中的首要任务,当前西藏景点英文名存在多个版本,缺乏统一性和规范性。以西藏湖泊类景点英文名为研究对象,对现存英文名进行分类分析,发现其翻译主要围绕选择何种标准使译名规范化的问题,并从翻译目的论的角度对两套主要标准,即我国制定的国内标准和国际通行的藏语地名标准进行了对比和分析,认为翻译目的论对西藏湖泊类景区名称翻译具有现实的指导意义。目的原则可以较为妥善解决这一问题,提出西藏景点名称翻译时宜以游客为中心,采用国际上关于藏族地名的通行译法,这对景点名称的规范化具有现实意义。

It is crucial to translate names of scenic spots into English in order to attract more overseas tourists,but many English names for one scenic spot in Tibet seem to be puzzled with the lack of standardization.This study takes lakes in Tibet for an example,and seeks to analyze different versions of same lakes from the skopos perspective based on national and international standards of Tibetan place names.The skopos theory is helpful to solve the problem of which standard should be applied.It proposes that translation of Tibetan scenic spots should be target reader-oriented,applying the well-accepted international versions,which has practical significance on the standardization of the scenic spot name.
