东岳信仰在蒲县及周边各邑广泛流传已历千年。作为其主要依托的东岳庙经过历代修缮,成为当地民众举行祭祀活动的重要场所。东岳信仰以劝善改恶,因果昭报的教化思想贯穿其中,对于民众的生产生活产生了十分深远的影响。正所谓"因神以聚民",东岳信众自发成立专门崇祀东岳的信会组织,在信仰传播过程中起到了推波助澜的作用。东岳信仰中的劝善观念深入人心、得到认同,其教人向善的功能得到实现,二者相互促进,使得东岳信仰长盛不衰。
