University Teachers' View of Yu Beichen,a People's Educator

于北辰曾参加党和国家在边疆少数民族地区建立的第一所综合大学——内蒙古大学的筹建工作。他一生从事教育工作,有着系统的教育理论和丰富的教育实践,特别是对如何成为一名合格的大学教师有着深刻的认识。早在20世纪50年代他就提出:没有第一流的高等学校教师,就不可能有第一流的高等学校。他始终主张大学教师要热爱学生,要有科研能力,还要钻研教学方法;他强调,为了促进大学教师的成长,要选拔最优秀的人才到大学教师队伍中来,给他们压担子,并提供各种保障。于北辰的大学教师观体现了老一辈革命工作者和人民教育家的真知灼见。

Yu Beichen was one of the founders of Inner Mongolia University, which is the first comprehensive university in the frontier minority areas established by the Party and our country. He devoted his life to education, and he had systematic theory of education and rich educational practice. He also had a deep understanding of how to become a qualified university teacher. In the fifties of the last century, he had proposed that if there are no first-class teachers in universities and colleges, it is impossible to have first-class colleges and universities. He advocated that university teachers should love students, and they must have scientific research ability, and scientific teaching method. He also stressed that in order to promote the growth of uni- versity teachers, we should select the best university teachers, give them much pressure, and provide a variety of guarantees. Yu Beichen＇s views embody the insights of an old revolutionary, and people＇s educator.
