University of British Columbia （UBC） is a famous public research universi- ty in Canada, which arrived at the forefront of the development of higher education in the whole world, both in teaching and researching. After years of exploration and practice, a set ＇of scientific system of teaching assistants with main characteristics as clear targets, a versa- tile management system, a normative employment system and a complete training system has been established in UBC, so that a high quality of service and a variety of learning expe- riences can be provided to the students there. The teaching assistant system in UBC is of great value, which can give us some enlightenment and make us have a correct understand- ing of roles and responsibilities about teaching assistants, manage them effectively, improve the teaching assistant recruitment system constantly, and strengthen training and evaluation of teaching assistants continually.
