“Insipid but Natural” : Style of Short Stories by Zhang Ailing in Her Later Years

张爱玲自1952年离沪赴港,创作风格开始发生转变。其后期注重对生活本来面貌的还原,小说创作渐趋显现出一种"平淡而近自然"的风格,这在其中短篇小说创作中表现得尤为突出。本文希图从语言修辞风格、叙事方式、心理描写3方面着手,探讨其后期"平淡而近自然"风格的具体文本表现,以及此种风格形成的影响质素。

Since 1952 when Zhang Ailing left Shanghai for Hong Kong and later overseas, she began to change her writing style into one of 'insipidness and naturalness' which is especially striking in her short stories.Starting from linguistic and rhetoric features, narrating mode and psychological description, the writer of this article attempts to explore Zhang Ailing's insipid and natural style expressed in the texts of her short stories in her late years and the influences of the style.
