Discussion about Zhang Dongsun′s Cultural Liberalism——A Case Study of Political Liberalism and Cultural Liberalism

张东荪受到中西学的双重影响,他的思想主张充满了中庸的色彩。抗日战争胜利后,国民党解散民盟,标志政治自由主义的失败。张东荪对民国的宪政失望至极,不得不放弃政治自由主义。但他继续坚持自由主义,提倡文化自由主义和社会主义相结合。最后因其主张的空想性和不可行性,而宣告破产。

Zhang Dongsun was influenced by both Chinese and Western cultures,and his thought was very eclectic,such as combining the cultural liberalism with planned society.After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War,the Kuomintang dissolved the Chinese Democratic League,indicating the failure of political liberalism.Zhang Dongsun was extremely disappointed with the constitutional government of the Republic of China,and compelled to give up political liberalism.However,he continued to adhere to the liberalism,and advocated the combination of cultural liberalism and socialism.At last,all his efforts were in vain due to the idealism and infeasibility of his ideas.
