Life is Elsewhere Reading Contemporary Architecture in Czech Republic through the Design of Second Housing

作为欧洲拥有度假别墅比例最高的国家之一,捷克的度假别墅在社会生活中扮演着重要角色。文章通过对捷克度假别墅历史的回顾,分析了捷克社会发展、文化生活和建筑之间的关联,并剖析三组当代度假别墅设计案例,总结出捷克当代建筑设计的价值取向和特点。

As the Czech Republic being one of countries in Europe that have the highest rate of second housing ownership,second housing（e.g.,recreational cottages,dachas,summer villas and apartments） plays a critical role in the country’s social life.By tracing the development of second housing in the Czech Republic,this paper examines the underlying relationship between social development,culture,and architecture.Through three case studies of contemporary second housing design,the paper explores the aesthetic orientation and distinguishing features of contemporary architecture in the country.
