American postmodernism has been influenced by Zen,especially aspired the idea of'be away from two sides'or'emptiness'.The American postmodernism poetry which arose in the 1950s was strongly infected with the consciousness of Zen.Gary Snyder was one of the most important poets of this school. As an embodiment of the Zen principle'ordinary mind is morality',most of Snyder’s poems come from the daily life, and are an expression of life attitude of unity of mind with body.Additionally,Snyder’s poems, with slack structure, are short of the consciousness of self subject, and lack the intrinsic rational logic. This empty consciousness'self-voidance'leads to the natural presentation of things in Snyder’s poetry.
