Badiou and the French Tradition

For Alain Badiou,the most propelling task for philosophy is how to locate an energizing philosophy of activity and production,and of fidelity to past revolutionary ruptures,in relation to the line in French philosophy that runs from Sartre,Althusser and Lacan to Foucault,Derrida and Deleuze.In Badiou＇s major systematic works,there is a critical interrogation of return to philosophical tradition,from metaphysics to ethics.At the same time,there is a revolutionary creativity in Badiou＇s philosophy,which is precisely absent in present philosophical thought.
