Objective To investigate the clinical effects and safety differences of conventional and modified tension suture method in the treatment of patients undergoing emergency laparotomy. Method 130 patients undergoing emergency laparotomy were chosen and randomly divided into a control group ( n = 65) and an experimental group ( n = 65 ). The control group were treated with conventional tension suture method while the experiment group with modified tension suture method. The ambulation time, the gastrointestinal function recovery time, the postoperative VAS score as achieved 24 hours after operation, the wound healing effects and the complication incidence after operation in both groups were compared. Findings The ambulation time, gastrointestinal function recovery time and postoperative VAS score and the wound healing effects of the experiment group were significantly better than those of the control group (P〈0.05). No significant difference was found in the complications incidence after operation between the 2 groups (P〈0.05). Conclusion Modified tension suture method in the treatment of patients undergoing emergency laparotomy can efficiently shorten the postoperative rehabilitation time, reduce the postoperative pain degree, promote the wound healing process and reduce risk of postoperative complications.
