Social Gender,Male Power and Social Contract Theory: Rereading Gayle Rubin's The Traffic in Women: Notes on the “Political Economy”of Sex

著名的女权主义者盖尔·鲁宾在《女人交易——性的"政治经济学"初探》中首次提出了"性/社会性别制度",并促成了女权主义视野下"社会性别"理论的迅速崛起。然而,这一女权主义核心范畴的本源实际上却是有着鲜明男权立场的社会契约论。为了避免认识上的混乱与理论上的尴尬,鲁宾在建构理论框架时有意避开本源不谈,致使许多重要的论述都无法深入到底。只有从社会契约论的角度出发,结合社会契约论的理论大背景对鲁宾的这篇论文加以重新解读,才有可能使问题的阐述真正落到实处,使妇女从属地位的根源性探究真正成为可能。

Gayle Rubin first proposed the ＂gender/gender system＂in The Traffic in Women： Notes on the＂Political Economy＂of Sex,and promoted the rapid rise of ＂gender＂theory in the perspective of feminism. However,the origin of the core concept of feminism is actually a classical social contract theory with distinct male power perspective. To avoid confusion and theoretical embarrassment,Lubin intends to avoid the origin of the theoretical framework,resulting in the impossibility of in-depth discussions.Bearing the social contract theory in mind,taking the theoretical background of the social contract theory into consideration,this thesis makes it possible to have in-depth discussion and the search of origin of women＇s subordinating status.
