A Study on Weather Metaphors in Shakespeare's Plays

莎剧中的天气词除了用于描述天气这一自然现象外,还被作为认知世界的一种思维方式和手段。从句法结构层面来说,莎剧中的天气隐喻可分为名词性隐喻、动词性隐喻、形容词性隐喻和介词性隐喻。天气的隐喻认知及其句法结构存在相互作用的关系,两者密不可分。从认知视角研究莎剧天气意象,有助于剖析语言背后的人物性格、情感等抽象概念。

Weather terms in Shakespeare＇s plays are used to describe weather,and they are also considered as a matter of thought and a way of cognition. In terms of lexical level,weather metaphors in Shakespeare＇s plays can be divided into noun metaphors,verb metaphors,adjective metaphors and prepositional metaphors. Metaphorical cognition of weather terms and its lexical structure interact with each other,and are inseparable. To study weather metaphors from the cognitive perspective is conducive to analyzing emotions,personalities and other abstract concepts of characters implied in linguistic expressions.
