孤立主义思想深深地植根于美国的文化传统,对美国政府的外交政策产生了重要影响。孤立主义思想可以说贯穿于美国历史发展的整个过程。自开国以来,美国即奉行以孤立主义为主要特征的政策。及至20世纪20、30年代,孤立主义思想在美国再度盛极一时。美国国会通过了一系列《中立法》,力图使美国置身战争之外,结果却为此付出了惨重的代价。即使在战后,孤立主义的呼声在美国仍不绝于耳。随着全球化进程的不断推进,孤立主义不可能在美国对外政策中居于主导地位。

Isolationism is deeply rooted in American cultural traditions and has had an important influence on the foreign policy of the US government. The isolationist thought has been throughout the process of American history. Since its founding, the US has pursued a policy of isolationism as its main feature. By the 1920s and 1930s, the isolationist ideology was once again prevalent in the US. The US Congress passed a series of ＂neutrality acts＂, in an attempt to sit out the war, yet the result was it paid a heavy price for this. Even after the war, the voice of isolationism has still been endlessly uttered in the US. As the process of globalization continues to advance, isolationism cannot dominate the US foreign policy.
