赤脚兽医产生于"文化大革命"前,瓦解于改革开放后。在缺医少药的年代,他们"想群众之所想,急群众之所急",对集体和社员的畜禽病积极进行防治。他们通过周到的服务,解决了群众的燃眉之急,成为保障畜牧业健康发展的一个至关重要的群体。赤脚兽医的产生是多方面原因共同作用的结果,具有显著的时代特征。文章以广西壮族自治区为例,综合考察赤脚兽医产生的历史原因及其自身所具有的特点,不仅有助于窥探新中国成立后我国赤脚兽医发展的历史概貌,而且对当今农村兽医事业的改革与发展仍有一定的启示意义。

Barefoot veterinarians were born on the＂Cultural Revolution＂eve,and disintegrated after the Reform and Opening up. In the era of lacking of medical treatment,they thought of what the masses want and were anxious about what the masses are＂,prevented and cured the sick animals and poultry actively for the collective and members. They had solved the urgent needs of the masses through the awesome services and became a vital group for guaranteeing the healthy development of animal husbandry. The emergence of barefoot veterinarian was the result of combined action of many factors,which had remarkable characteristics of the times. This article takes Guang Xi as an example to have a comprehensive study about the historical causes and characteristics of them,which not only favors to spy on the the historical pictures of barefoot veterinarians after the founding of China,but also can provide some enlightenment for the development and reformation of veterinary business in rural areas.
