图书馆是国家文化教育事业的重要组成部分。新中国成立初期,人民政府积极推进图书馆事业建设,接管和改造旧中国保留下来的图书馆,成立国家图书馆,保护、充实和丰富图书,推进高校图书馆、公共图书馆、工会图书馆和农村图书馆等建设,在发展图书馆学教育,培养专业干部和人才等方面,取得了很大成就,为新中国图书馆事业的发展奠定了坚实基础。

Library is an important part of national cultural and educational undertakings. In the early period after the founding of the People＇s Republic of China,The Communist Party of China actively promoted the construction of library undertakings,took over and reconstructed the libraries retained by the old China and set up a national library to protect and enrich the books,as well as expedited building college,public,labor union＇ s and rural libraries.The Communist Party of China has made great achievements for the development of library education,cultivation of professional cadres and talents and laid a solid foundation for the cause of library development in new China.
