Study on Characteristics of Su Manshu's Poetry Translation

苏曼殊译诗在思想上受到拜伦、雪莱等的浪漫主义影响,并在这种情愫中礼赞爱与自由的精神,同时也有知识份子激进的爱国情怀。其鲜明的浪漫抒情和感伤倾向带动了清末民初的浪漫风气,推动近现代中国浪漫主义思潮的涌起。在艺术表现上,苏曼殊多采用直译的手法和五言古体的形式对外国诗歌进行译介。这对传承中国古典诗歌的艺术特点起到积极的作用,为诗歌翻译建设提供另一个分析视角。

Su Manshu＇s poetry translations were influenced by such romantic idea from Byron and Shelley,and showed the spirit of love and freedom and the radical patriotism of intellectual. Its bright romantic lyric and sentimental tendency activated the romantic idea of the late Qing Dynasty and promoted the modern romanticism in China. Su Manshu always adopted literal translation and five characters ancient poetry to translate foreign poems which had the positive function on the inheritance of Chinese Classical Poetry and provide a new analytical perspective for poetry translation.
