Oba Minako,a representative writer in postwar Japan who experienced the atomic explosions,is deeply influenced by Lu Xun＇s Wild Grass and has created the ＂Weed＂ series.She poured her emotions about the atomic explosion experiences into Urashimaso,a significant work in her ＂Weed＂ series and representative of Japanese literature on the theme of atomic explosions.Based on the facts that both the creation motive and content of Oba＇s Urashimaso are closely related to her atomic explosion experiences,this paper examines the correlation between the abundant cultural images and the expression of requiem in Urashimaso and analyzes Oba＇s works about the atomic explosions in general.A review of Urashimaso＇s feature of requiem covers the requiems for memories of Hiroshima＇s explosion disasters,and the dissatisfaction with postwar Japan as it seems to forget the atomic explosion disaster.In the end,this essay reveals the realistic significance of requiem features in Oba＇s Urashimaso and other works about the atomic explosions,that is,the real requiem needs never forgetting,and requires everyone of us to examine our behaviors as a precaution against any cultural genes which may give rise to atomic explosion.
