古台门是绍兴最具特色的民居建筑,其营造艺术包含着建筑技艺、环境艺术和历史记忆。在经济发展进程中,大量古台门被时代所湮灭,保护与传承工作也成了当务之急。保护与传承好古台门,不仅要在建筑技艺上进行呈现,更要在自然和人文等环境艺术上进行恢复,只有还原了历史客观条件下古台门原汁原味的艺术本真,才能体现出我们保护与传承台门这个绍兴古建筑"活化石"的真实意义和实际价值。

The ancient portal is the most typical residential building in Shaoxing. Its building art includes architectur- al technique, environmental art and historical memory. With the development of economy, a large number of ancient portals disappeared in the course of history. The work of protection and inheritance is a priority which should be alive through building art and recovered in humanity and nature. Only the original art authenticity of ancient portal is re- stored in the historic objective condition, the ancient portal which is regarded as living fossil in the area of Shaoxing architecture, will we reflect the real sense and practical value of the ancient portal protection and inheritance work.
