A Case Study on the Present Situation of Faculty Members' Participation in University Governance

摘要 参与是高校治理民主化和科学化的内在要求。现有研究通常认为赋予并保证教师更多参与治理的权利,是解决高校治理问题的灵丹妙药。但对A大学的个案研究发现,教师参与高校治理的动机主要是出于维护自身的利益,且其实际参与率较低,参与方式也不够合理。这种状况是教师的学科逻辑、治理制度的设计缺陷与教师参与的能力困境共同形塑的结果。为此,应进一步增强教师对高校的认同感,保障教师参与治理的有效制度供给,提高教师参与治理的能力。 Participation is the inherent requirement of the democratization and scientifici- zation for university governance. The existing research generally believed that to ensure that faculty members have more rights to participate in university governance is a ready-made panacea o{ solving the governance problem. But the A University case study show that the motivation of faculty members' participation in university governance is to maintain their own interests, their actual participation rate is low, the participation ways are not reasona- ble. The present situation of faculty members' participation in university governance is the interaction result of faculties' discipline logic, ability dilemma and the design defect of gov- ernance system. For those reasons, it is necessary for the university to enhance the sense of identity of faculty members, to guarantee the effective system supply of faculty members' participation in university governance, to improve faculty members' ability to participate in university governance.
