中国文学“走出去”之译介模式再思考——兼谈葛浩文英译《生死疲劳》

The "Going-out" of Chinese Literature and Its Translating Models:With American Sinologist Howard Goldblatt's Life and Death are Wearing Me Out as an Exemplar

中国文学"走出去"是当今提高中国文化软实力的一个热点议题,如何走出去,翻译家的翻译活动是其关键。葛浩文英译莫言作品,从文本选择、读者中心和文化调适三个方面体现出译介模式对中国文学"走出去"的重要作用。谙熟中国文化的海外汉学家与优秀中国译者互为补充的译介模式是现阶段的理想选择;译者应根据中国文学"走出去"的不同阶段以及西方读者对中国文学作品的可接受程度合理调整译介模式。只有在译介模式和翻译策略之间找到"支点"才能承担起中国文学"走出的"的历史重任。

At present,the ＂ going-out＂ of Chinese literature is a hot-debated issue in promoting China＇s cultural soft power. How to go out and translators＇ translating activities are playing a key role. This paper takes Sinologist Howard Goldblatt＇s English version Life and Death are Wearing Me Out as an exemplar to probe into how the translating model has influenced the ＂ going-out＂ of Chinese literature in terms of the choice of texts,readers＇ centre and cultural adjustment. The translating model that Sinologists who know Chinese culture very well and excellent Chinese translators supplement each other is an ideal choice at the present stage. Translators should adjust the translating model according to the different stages of Chinese culture＇s ＂ going-out＂ and Western readers＇ acceptability of Chinese literary works. Only by finding a fulcrum between translating models and translating strategies can translators take the great responsibility for the ＂ going out＂ of Chinese literature.
