侗族说唱文学的曲调以本民族多样的民歌曲调为基础,在侗族艺术不断地发展和变迁中,汲取汉族说唱文学的演唱形式和内容,经精英歌师和戏师改编创作而成。侗族说唱文学不仅讲述本民族自己的故事,也承担着记录历史和传承文化的功能。侗族说唱文学有本民族特有的编创歌谣的韵律系统,在创作手法上以独有的自然生态和民族风俗作为比兴和创作的源泉。

The Dong＇ s ballad literature is based on folk songs, but has developed through an intake of the Han people＇ s ballad literature in form and content, refined by singing and opera masters. It is argued that the Dong＇ s ballad literature is a recount of the people＇ s history and culture and that it has its own prosodic system and unique ecological and custom features.
