朱棣夺取皇位后,为粉饰其篡权的合法性,肆意焚毁与建文帝有关的史料,篡改史实。明中后期政治环境虽然趋于宽松,但与建文帝有关的史实依然扑朔迷离。吴德义教授的《政局变迁与历史叙事:明代建文史编撰研究》在尽量厘清各种史籍之间的承继衍变关系的基础上,阐释了建文史籍的编撰与明代政局变迁之间的关系,剥除了附着在建文史上意识形态的层层尘埃,从而使其走出人为的建构而逐步还原其本身,是一部既有史学功底、又有理论建树的学术专著。

After the seizure of the throne, Zhu Di put varnish on his legitimacy of usurpation by burning historical materials related to EmperorJianwen and tampering with historical facts. Although the political environment in the late Ming Dynasty tended to be loose, the historical facts related to Emperor Jianwen were still confusing. The monograph Political Changes and Historical Narration： A Study of Compilation of the Ming Jianwen History by Wu Deyi is based on clarification of inheritingrelations between different histor- ical texts and explains the relationship betweenhistorical compilation of the Ming Dynasty and the political changes.The book removes the veil over the ideology of the Jianwen history so that it breaks away from man-made construction and gradually restores to its normal state. It is regarded as an academic monograph with both solid historical foundation and theoretical achievements.
