This paper introduces the size of the network, station layout and traffic of London suburban railway. Then the organization and management system are analyzed focusing on the management body, operating company, franchise model, public subsidy mechanism, etc. Finally the development characteristics of London suburban railway are summarized in terms of franchise model promoting the growth of traffic volume, ticketing revenue reducing public subsidy, intensive cooperation between the railway and the municipal governments, interoperability with the underground system, integrated ticketing and payment system, etc.
