Oil Painting Exhibitions Held in China by the Soviet Union in the 1950s and Their Influence

1950年代,新中国引进了大量苏联美术展览,其中影响最广泛的油画展览有"苏联经济及文化建设成就展览会""十八—二十世纪俄罗斯绘画展览会""1955—1957苏联美术家作品展览会"等。这些展览的举办,以及来华苏联专家配合进行的油画技术指导,使社会主义现实主义创作方法在中国得以传播、推广和发展。

In the 1950s, a large number of art exhibitions by the Soviet Union were held in China, among which are three most influential oil painting exhibitions, namely ＂The Economic and Cultural Achievements Exhibition of the Soviet Union ＂, ＂Eigh-teenth - Twentieth Century Russian Paintings Exhibition＂, ＂1955-1957 Art Exhibition of the Soviet Artists＂. The above-men- tioned exhibitions coupled with the fact that the Soviet experts came to China to offer guidance in oil painting techniques facilitated the development of the creating skills featuring socialist realism in China.
