Error Exponents for Maximum-likelihood and Optimum Successive Decoders for the Gaussian CDMA Channel

This paper introduces the principle of error exponents for the code division multiple access (CDMA) channel, and analyzes and compares random\|coding error exponents of Gaussian CDMA channel for the maximum\|likelihood and optimum successive decoders. For the multiuser CDMA channel, rate\|splitting multiple access (RSMA) is considered as a means to improve the performance of the OSD when the OSD performance is suboptimal with close to the MLD.
