Cultural Conflicts and Coexistence in The Joy Luck Club

文化冲突是目前生活在西方的华裔作家体验最为强烈的问题。现从美籍华裔作家谭恩美的小说《喜福会》着手,利用低背景文化和高背景文化的研究成果,对小说中存在的文化冲突进行全面解读。研究结果证明,不同文化之间的交流需要相互理解和尊重,真诚和尊重是连接世界文化和心灵桥梁的主要纽带。

Cultural conflicts is the most powerful problem for Chinese American writers. This paper, starting with Chinese American writer Tan Enmei＇s novel The Joy Luck Club, makes a thorough analysis on the cultural conflicts in the novel by virtue of the research results of low background culture and high background culture. The results show that the communication between different cultures requires mutual understanding and respect, and that sincerity and respect are the main link eormecting world culture and spiritual bridge.
