Gathering is a novel about memory, pain and pursuit. Ann Enright puts the liminality into the construction of the story skillfully by the creative techniques of post modem novels which leads to the achievement and equality. Under the perspective of limi- nality, it reflects the hybridity, contradiction and uncertainty one by one by the mixture of the narration, emotion and character liminality. It also reflects the thinking, pursuit and redemption about the meaning of life.
