语料库视角下《红楼梦》诗词的翻译风格对比研究——以《葬花吟》两英译本为例

A Corpus-based Comparative Study on Translation Styles of Poetry Translation of Hongloumeng——Exemplified with Two English Versions of Zanghuayin

本文选取《红楼梦》中经典诗歌《葬花吟》为研究对象,基于语料库研究手段,从词汇、句子和语篇三个层面对《葬花吟》两个英译本进行翻译风格研究。研究结果表明,杨宪益译本和霍克斯译本的翻译风格各有特色。前者冗余特征更加显著,句式复杂,文本阅读难度更高,可读性相对较低。后者词汇丰富,词性变化更多,句子相对简洁,文本阅读难度较低,更加贴合原文。本研究能够为《红楼梦》诗词的研究和再译工作提供新的研究思路,并具有一定借鉴意义。

Hongloumeng is the pinnacle of Chinese classical literature. By its representative poem Zanghuayin as the research subject, this thesis conducts a corpus-based comparative analysis of the translation styles in the two English versions from lexical, syn- tactic and textual levels. The results indicate that bothhave their own styles. YangHsien-yi ＇ s tends to show a high degree of text read- ing difficulty and relatively low readability due to its significantly redundant features and complex sentences. Hawkes＇ presents a rela- tively low text reading difficulty and comes close to the sourcetextbecause of extensive vocabulary, changeable parts of speech, and relatively simple sentences. The present study can provide new research clues as well as certain referential value both for the study on and retranslation of the poemsin Honglongmeng.
