摘要
英国议会制(BP)辩论作为目前国际校际英语辩论赛通用的一种模式,具有涉及国际热点问题广、锻炼学生思辨分析能力和英语实用表达能力的特点,已走进部分大学英语课堂。以非英语专业学生的大学实践英语课程为例,通过行动研究开展了基于BP辩论模式的渐进式口语教学模式,即第一阶段结合教材主题进行自由辩论练习;第二阶段进行小组式思辨情景训练;第三阶段进行简化版议会制辩论。基于文秋芳的外语类大学生思辨能力层级理论模型,初步探讨了该教学模式体现学生思辨能力的3个主要认知技能:分析技能、推理技能和评价技能。
British Parliament(BP) Debate has been a popular debate mode in both international and Intercollegiate English debating contests. Currently BP debate has been utilized in college English teaching practice,as it stimulates students' discussion about global hot topics and enhances their critical thinking ability as well as language competence. Through action research,this article focuses on presenting a scaffolding teaching mode of utilizing BP debate in teaching college English,with a detailed analysis of the sample course—college practical English. The three basic procedures of the teaching mode are as follows: firstly,free debate practice using textbook related topics; secondly,group work of situational logic reasoning practice; thirdly,revised version of BP debate practice. Based on the conceptual framework for assessing college students' critical thinking skills,this article discusses three major cognitive skills reflected in students' debate practice: analysis,inference and evaluation.
