The concept of minimally invasive surgery （ MIS ） put forward by the application of new instruments has an important role in advancing techniques and improing clinical effects for total hip arthroplasty （ THA ）. The MIS THA through posterior approach has been performed by most surgeons. Supercapsular percutaneously- assisted total hip （ PATH ） THA may cause inadvertent muscle damage, and be challenging to technical details with steep learning curve. Attempts must be performed with caution.
