Family Misfortunes in Jin Shengtan's Childhood——An Interpretation of Some Related Poems

金圣叹幼年遭遇悲惨家难,此事不见于记载和传说,长期隐没无闻;但在传世的金圣叹诗文中尚存蛛丝马迹,虽曲折隐讳,犹可推测大概:家难发生于金圣叹八岁前后,造成其父母双亡,兄弟离散;同时遭难和离散的还有金家的其他人员。家难的起因错综复杂,尤以金父、金叔与"官绅"金伯之间的对立冲突为主要原因。由于威胁仍在,幸存者长期不敢显言其事。幼年家难给金圣叹的身心造成严重创伤,并留下许多"后遗症",对其为人为文影响巨大。

Jin Shengtan encountered with family misfortunes in his childhood, and his early misfortunes were not re corded in historical books or legends. The faint indications of his misfortunes were extant in his poems. Although his mis fortunes in the poems were subtle and circuitous, they can be roughly speculated. The family misfortunes occurred when Jin was about eight years old. His family misfortunes brought about the death of his parents and separation of brothers. The reasons for family misfortunes were complicated, and the confrontations between Jin Shengtan^s father and uncles were the main reasons. One of his uncles had been in league with the burglars and raided Jin＇s home. The survivals in Jim＇s family were forced to leave, and the family misfortunes were not disclosed. J in Shengtan＇s family misfortunes in- flicted heavy trauma on his mind and body, and the lingering side effects exerted great influences on his literary career.
