Literature Review of Needs Analysis Research in English Language Teaching and Learning

摘要 通过梳理上世纪90年代末以来发表在外语类核心期刊上的有关我国英语教学需求分析研究的文献,本文发现,国内研究主要聚焦国外理论的引介和借鉴,开展了大量微观层面的实证研究,但尚未构建在我国外语教学语境下的需求分析理论框架与模型,缺乏国家宏观层面的英语学习需求分析研究。重新审视英语教学需求分析的研究现状,旨在引起学术界的关注,从更广阔的视阈开展英语教学需求分析研究与反思,为有关部门制定更契合实际的外语教学改革政策提供依据,进而促进我国英语教学的发展。 By reviewing theoretical and empirical research on needs analysis in English language teaching and learning over the past nearly 20 years in China, the study finds that theoretical and empirical research is abundant but not profound (mainly involving introduction of related research abroad ) and that empirical research is unevenly distributed in terms of subjects, range, content, purpose, as well as levels under investigation and analysis. The study also finds that the theoretical frameworks and models of foreign language teaching in China context are yet to be established. Furthermore, inadequate research is done about English teaching and learning at large scale or throughout the nation. The study hopes to push domestic researchers to conduct more effective theoretical and empirical research on needs analysis, thereby support curriculum reform and policy-making concerning English teaching and learning in China.
