Understanding International Relations: Themes, Approaches and Meanings

国际关系的主题是国际合作和国际冲突 ,国际关系研究包括国际安全研究和国际政治经济学两大主要内容。国际关系的分析方法分为三个层次 ,即个人层次、国家层次和体系层次 ;同时 ,存在四种取向 ,即理想主义、现实主义、科学行为主义和马克思主义。研究国际关系的意义在于维护国际安全 ,促进世界发展 ,推动人权进步 。

What are international relations? Why are the relations studied? How are the relations analyzed? These questions require the understanding of the themes, approaches and meanings of international relations. The themes refer to international cooperation and international conflict. The studies of international relations include international security study and international political economy. The analytic approaches to international relations comprise three levels (individual, State and systemic) as well as four value orientations (idealism, realism, behaviorism and Marxism). The meanings are: maintaining international security, promoting world development, enhancing human rights, undertaking global communications and fulfilling the modernization of China.
