Objective To explore the effect of addition of glutamine in parenteral nutrition support for ICU patients with severe craniocerebral injury. Methods 40 cases of ICU patients with severe craniocerebral injury admitted to our hospital from January 2014 to January 2017 were selected as research objects and randomly divided into two groups equally. On the basis of routine treatment and nursing, the control group received parenteral nutrition support, while the observation group received addition of glutamine injection in parenteral nutrition support. After 2 weeks' continuous treatment, the clinical effects of two groups were evaluated and compared. Results Before treatment, no statistical difference was found between two groups in the malnutrition-inflammation syndrome (MIS) score (P 〉0.05); After treatment, the MIS score of observation group was (16.5±1.7) points, significantly lower than (19.4 ± 1.8) points of control group (P〈0.05). The total incidence of complications of observation group was 15.0%, significantly lower than 45.0% of control group (P 〈0.05). Conclusions The addition of glutamine in parenteral nutrition support for ICU patients with severe craniocerebral injury can effectively improve patients' condition of nutrition, and reduce the risk of complications.
