Communication and dialogue: The interaction between the Huizhou's patriarchal clan and the education during the Ming and Qing Dynasties

明清时期的徽州经济发达、文化繁荣、科举兴盛,独特的地理环境、书香浓郁的文化氛围和无时无刻不在的宗族意识使得徽州成为徽商的发祥地。徽商称雄中国商界500多年,他们"贾而好儒"的品质唤起积淀在徽州民众心中的文化意识。徽商在经商之余也非常注重对子女的教育及自身修养。在雄厚经济实力的徽商支持下,徽州教育异彩纷呈,促进了宗族、徽商和教育三者之间的互动,丰富了徽州区域的历史文化。

Huizhou was an area whose economies, cultures and the imperial examination were prosperous during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Unique geographical circumstances, strong cultural atmosphere and significant patriarchal consciousness made Huizhou a home to Huizhou＇s businessmen. As Huizhou＇s businessmen ruled Chinese business community for 500 years, their confucianism along with businessmen characteristics waked up the cultural awareness which were heritages in the bottom of the heart of Huizhou people. Huizhou＇s businessmen were aware of the importance of children＇s education and treated self-cultivation equally important. With the support of Huizhou＇s businessmen, Huizhou＇s education was flourishing. It promote the interaction among the patriarchal clan, businessmen and education and enriched the historical culture of Huizhou area.
