Objective To study the curative effect and adverse reaction of oxcarbazepine ( OXC ) on treating vestibular paroxysmia. Method twenty-six patients with diagnosis of vestibular paroxysmia were orally given OXC,and the drug dose was added gradually. We evaluated the curative effect of pre-therapy and post-therapy after the first week, the fourth week and the eighth week by dizziness handicap inventory ( DHI ) and DARS, on the otherhand, the adverse reactionwas studied. Results 1.curative effect:with DHI scales and DARS scales,Comparing with pretherapy, post-therapy after the first week, the fourth week and the eighth week had a significant difference separately ( P〈0.01 ) . Comparing with post-therapy after the first week, the fourth week and the eighth week had a significant difference separately ( P〈0.01 ) .there were no significant difference between the post-therapy after the fourth week and the eighth week ( P〉0.05 ) . 2.Drug adverse reaction:19.2% of patients were found to have adverse reaction. Conclusion Oxcarbazepine is a highly effctive and safe drug which can be used in vestibular paroxysmia.
