冯沅君爱情小说的叙事本质是以演绎和表现自由和五四时期青年女性的觉醒。通过独特的爱情叙事回应时代的话题,建构女学生爱情观和主体意识。自觉和不自觉的演绎和表现意识导致私密性的爱情经验被公共性的恋爱自由观念稀释整合,作品内部充满矛盾与裂隙,这种始于爱情终于爱情的自由追求又体现了女学生成长和生命中不能承受之重,昭示了五四时代女性意识的觉醒和新女性主体建构的可能与限度。

The narrative character of Feng Yuanjun＇s love fiction mainly shows and represents freedom and the awakening of the young females in May Fourth period.By unique love narrative,she reflects the topics of the times and sets up the love value and principal mentality of the female students.Conscious and unconscious inference and expression cause the private love experience diluted and integrated by the public free ideas of love.The inner of the fiction is filled with contradiction and separation.The pursuit of free love,which starts with love and ends with love,also reflects the growth of the female students and the heavy burden in their life,which represents the awakening of the female consciousness and the possibility and limitation in the principal construction of the new women in May Fourth period.
