红螺寺僧史小考

Checking on the History of Monks Living in the Hongluo Temple

北京怀柔红螺寺,自古为京东名刹,历史悠久,闻名遐迩。因史料记载不足,至今难以把握其历史全貌,特别是关于红螺寺的法脉源流、宗派所属、法门特征,现有的研究尚不充分。通过红螺寺历史人物及相关史实的考察,指出红螺寺自辽代即为净土念佛道场,金元时期延续此风,至清代际醒大师而大盛,成为全国典范;红螺法系在金元时期属云门宗,清代属临济宗,法门特点为禅净双修;红螺寺的净土念佛源远流长,影响广泛,这里作为清修道场,在北京地区的佛教史上独具特色。

The Hongluo Temple lies in Huairou county of Beijing,famous for its long history in eastern Beijing since ancient time. However,the history of Hongluo Temple is not clear because of the lack of documental record. The existing research about the temple is not enough,especially with the origin and characteristic of lineage. The paper studied on the historical figures and facts,pointed out that since the Liao Dynasty,the temple had become a land chanting ＂Amitabha＂,up to the Jin and Yuan Dynasties. In the Qing Dynasty,Master Jixing revitalized it as a model temple. The lineage of Hongluo Temple was belong to Yunmen Sect in the Jin and Yuan Dynasties,till Qing Dynasty,it was the land of Linji Sect. And ＂the practice of Zen and Pure Land＂had become its characteristic. So the Hongluo Temple is a famous place not only for its long history and widespread impact,but also for chanting ＂Amitabha＂of the Beijing area in the history of Chinese Buddhism. All facts prove that Buddhism belief is the core of ＂Hongluo culture＂.
