On Development and Problems of Modern Western Materialism

唯物主义是一种有悠久历史与多样形式的哲学流派。进入20世纪以来,随着物理学、心理学、神经科学、认知科学等学科的发展,唯物主义哲学不仅获得了更多的经验依据,而且影响也从哲学扩展到了具体科学中。但是唯物主义哲学与具体科学的结合,也带来了一些副效应,即具体科学认识不清的一些问题,成为了唯物主义所不得不面对的难题。但唯物主义对这些难题的解答,也促进了唯物主义本身的发展。

Materialism is a philosophical school with a rather long history and various forms. In 20th century with the development of physics,psychology,neuroscience,cognitive science etc.,the materialism not only gets more evidence of experiences study,but also penetrates into more fields of specific sciences besides philosophy. However,the combination of materialism and specific sciences bring some side-effects,which are not recognized clearly by specific sciences,become the problems of materialism. However,the solutions to these problems provided by materialism promote the development of materialism itself.
