Implicit Narration of Poems Devoted to Historical Figures in Han Dynasty by Yelü Chucai

丁亥年(1227)是耶律楚材人生境遇和思想心态比较特别的年份。蒙古最高统治者更替、十年西征结束等外部政治环境的变化,以及他奉旨南返燕京"搜索经籍"等事件的发生,促使年近不惑的诗人开启新的人生思考。这一年诗人高密度题咏汉代人物,如王昭君、萧何、曹参、张良、蒋诩等,以历史人物相关之古典来暗合当代事件之今典,较隐秘地揭示了他所亲历的相关事件,并因以书写故国情怀与隐逸之思。其古典与今典以多种形式组构契合,大量进入其当年的诗歌创作中,形成了别具风神意味的隐性叙事。

The year of 1227 is special for Yelü Chucain in terms of his life and thought. New Mongolian emperor ascended the throne and external political environment changed with ten years of western expedition ended. He began to reflect on life when he returned to Yandu on emperor＇s order to collect classical works. He wrote many poems in this year, dedicating to historical figures in the Han dynasty including Wang Zhaojun, Xiao He, Cao Can, Zhang Liang, and Jiang Xu. He used the stories of historical figures to allude to the happenings of his time, implying what he had experienced. This combination of past with present can be seen in his poems with his nostalgia for his homeland and desire to live in seclusion, forming the implicit narration of unique poetic style.
