Objective To explore the role of Foxml in the occurrence and progression of cervical cancer and its significance in the early detection and severity evaluation of cervical cancer. Methods 43 specimens of cervical cancer tissue and 35 specimens of normal cervical tissue were collected. The Foxml protein expression situation in these sample was detected by immunohistochemical method, the relationship between the overall Foxml protein expression level, the nucleus Foxml protein expression level in cervical cancer tissue and pathological features were analyzed. Results The positive expression rate of Foxml protein in cervical cancer tissue was significantly higher than that in normal cervical tissue (P〈0.001). The Foxml protein expression score in cervical cancer tissue was significantly higher than that in normal cervical tissue (P〈0.001). The total Foxml protein expression scores among different pathological types, differentiated degree, FIGO stages, lymph node metastasis were not statistically significant (P〉0.05). The tumor cell nucleus Foxml protein expression level in patients with low differentiation, Ⅱ stage, lymph node metastasis were significantly higher than those in patients with high or moderate differentiation, 0- Ⅰ stage, and patients without lymph node metastasis (P〈0.001). Conclusion Foxml protein may be associated with the occurrence and progress of cervical cancer, detection of the nucleus Foxml protein positive expression level may be conducive to early finding cervical malignant lesions and evaluating severity of cervical cancer.
