JMS was founded in 2004, is sponsored by Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, published by Science Press China, and distributed by Springer exclusively throughout the world （excluding China's Mainland）. JMS is indexed/abstracted in Science Citation Index, Georef, Scopus, CABI, CSCD It is published monthly from 2016.
