孔子正名思想渊源有自,其含义就是为名正义,严格限定名的含义和应用范围,并反过来以名责实,使实不出位。其目的在于重建曾经的和谐安定的社会秩序,其原则是名实相符,其手段是审名分。孔子正名思想的终极目标是正政,是通过正名建立自己理想的政治制度和社会秩序。在现时代,正名实践要解决为什么要正名(正名目的),正什么名(正名领域、对象),如何正名(正名的原则、方法)等问题。

Confucius＇ s thought of rectification of name has its origin. It means the justification of the meaning of name by means of strictly defining the implication and application of name, to ensure what it refers is limited within the scope of what it should refer. The aim is to rebuild the once harmonious and stable social order according to the principle of reunification of name and its physical counterpart by examining the identity of the name. The ultimate aim of Confucius＇ thought of name rectification lies in justifying conducts in administration, namely rebuilding his ideal political system and social order by means of name rectification. Nowadays, the practice of name rectification demands clarifying why, what and how to rectify.
