沂源县城区为鲁中南构造侵蚀为主的中低山丘陵区内的一个小盆地,面积20.84 km^2,经地热资源计算,地热田可利用地热资源量2.87×10^(17) J,热能总储量相当于97.95万t标准煤的产热量。可利用热能资源总量为4.31×10^(16) J,相当于14.70万t标准煤的产热量,属小型低温地热田。水质属淡、温型医疗热矿水,资源丰富质优,易于开发,应用面广,具有较好的开发利用前景。
