财力与才能的施展——明清徽商参与家谱纂修考论

Display of Financial Resources and Ability:Study of Huizhou Merchants' Participation in Genealogy Compilation in Ming and Qing Dynasties

明清徽商具有雄厚的经济实力和较高的文化素养,他们热心于家谱纂修等宗族文化活动。文章考述了明清徽商参与修谱的基本形态,一是捐资修谱,徽州家谱纂修与刊刻需要巨额经费,徽商财力雄厚而踊跃捐资;二是主持修谱,一些徽商具备较高的文化素养,往往亲自主持修谱;三是协助修谱,一些徽商发起修谱倡议、积极联络宗族成员参与修谱,并在修谱过程中承担资料收集与资金管理等职责。这三种形态是徽商参与修谱中财力与才能施展的具体表现。

Huizhou merchants had strong economic strength and high cultural literacy, and they were enthusiastic in clan activities like genealogy compilation in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In this paper, the main forms of Huizhou merchants＂ participation in genealogy compilation during the Ming and Qing Dynasties were studied. The first form was financial donation in genealogy compilation. Al- though it cost much to compile Huizhou genealogy, the rich Huizhou merchants participated in it en- thusiastically. The second form was presiding over Huizhou genealogy compilation. Some Huizhou merchants had high literacy, they compiled genealogy by themselves. The third one is providing help to the activity of Huizhou genealogy compilation. They either launched it, or contacted their clan members to participate in it actively. Moreover, they undertook both material collection and fund management tasks. These three forms showed that Huizhou merchants had great financial resources and ability in their genealogy compilation.
