In the background of ＂Internet＋＂,the research ideas and practical methods of ＂fact data＋tool method＋expert wisdom＂ in scientific and technological information（STI）research are paid more and more attention.This paper mainly discusses the important application of open source software in ＂tool method＂.All kinds of information are the basis of STI research work,In the background of ＂Internet＋＂,we need to use open source software for information collection,storage,and preprocessing.This paper selected a number of efficient open source software to be a brief introduction for the study practitioners,and to put forward feasible solutions for reference.Research of STI is running gradually to the direction of automation and intelligent development,open source software is low cost or even free,and powerful enough to meet most of the application scenarios,the prospects of its application in research of STI can be highly expected.
